1949 FERRARI 166 PANORAMICA ZAGATO (FER00121)

FERRARI CLASSICHE CERTIFICABLE

“Although the friendship between Ugo Zagato and Enzo Ferrari dates back to the times of the Alfa Romeos of the Scuderia Ferrari, twenty years before the foundation of the Maranello company, the 1949 166 Panoramica is to be considered the first Ferrari bodied by Zagato.

Not only was it Zagato's first Ferrari, it was also Ferrari's first coupé and Gioacchino Colombo, one of Ferrari's consultants who collaborated with Zagato to reach the final design.
Called Panoramica, the coupé had an extremely futuristic design, with curved plexiglass windows that integrated with the roof and body of the car.

The Ferrari 166 MM Panoramica Zagato, commissioned by gentleman driver Antonio Stagnoli, represents a milestone in the evolution of the coupé concept.
The car took part in various competitions, such as the "Coppa intereuropa" and the Mille Miglia.
In 1950, however, the car was lost because Zagato, again at the owner's request, transformed that same chassis into a barchetta.

Decades later, at the request of a client, the ZAGATO atelier decided to recreate the lost iconic "166 Panoramica", starting from the base of a FERRARI 166 VIGNALE.
So thanks to the photometric process and the support of Ferrari Classiche, the missing coupé came back to life in 2007, precisely on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Prancing Horse."
