The History
The Ala d’Oro 250 made its appearance in 1960, shortly after the 175. Initially, it was just a road motorcycle prepared for racing, but later evolution led to solutions specifically developed for racing use, such as a new frame with plates in the rear area (1966), and suspension and brakes upgrades.
The Ala d’Oro was probably the most interesting 250 for private riders and juniors.
In terms of racing achievements, it boasts nine Italian Mountain Championships (won between 1965 and 1973), and four Junior titles. Among its international victories, mention must be made of the two wins at the Daytona 100 miles (1963 and 1964).
